ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday took the cabinet into confidence about the ongoing ‘campaign’ against MNA Ali Musa Gilani, his son.

The younger son of PM Gilani has been allegedly involved in influencing the allocation of drug quota done by the director general ministry of health.

The prime minister stated that various inquiries conducted by the departments including one by the Senate standing committee on interior made no mention of influence exercised by Ali Musa Gilani in their findings.

It may be mentioned here that an inquiry committee was set up under the directions of Senate standing committee on interior, which included federal inspector drug, deputy director of FIA, and the chairman quality control Islamabad.

The findings of the committee also did not find any clue of Ali Musa Gilani’s involvement.

The chairman of Senate standing committee on interior also constituted another committee to ascertain the substances used by pharmaceutical companies in the country.

The report of this committee also reached the same conclusions with no mention of prime minister’s son.

A joint investigation committee, constituted by then minister of health, with terms of reference to establish the violation of the procedure in granting quota to the recipients also did not found any evidence of Ali Musa Gilani’s involvement in the case.

It is also true beyond any doubt that there is no evidence in Pakistan that Ephedrine is converted to manufacture ecstasy or cocaine in Pakistan and there is no such facility ever traced in the country also.

The local price of Ephedrine is about Rs 7000 per kg and figure of billions of rupees was a deliberate effort to mislead the people.

The prime minister also mentioned that his elder son Abdul Qadir Gilani was also implicated in the Hajj scam falsely in order to defame his family.

The chief justice of Pakistan then directed the authorities to register a case against the MNA who had leveled allegations merely on the basis of hearsay.

The cabinet expressed its grave concern over the character assassination of the family members of the prime minister and expressed the resolve to defend the case of such victimisation by presenting correct facts and figures at all fora.
