ISLAMABAD: Speaking during the joint sitting of both houses of the parliament, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Haji Adeel’s remark over division of water among provinces sparked a tirade between the lawmakers of the PML-N and his party, DawnNews reported on Tuesday.

Parliamentarians, belonging to both parties, shouted slogans at each other when Adeel pointed out towards the water agreement of 1991. He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa holds the right to the water which was being provided to Punjab as a result of the agreement.

Lawmakers belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stood up on the remarks and verbally assailed ANP by shouting slogans at its members.

The counterattack by ANP lawmakers subsequently spread chaos in the house.

Adeel further went on attacking the leadership of the PML-N by saying that they had fled away from the country by signing contracts when faced with predicaments. The ANP, however, has no such record, he added.

“N-League switches sides…sometimes they sit with Jamaat-i-Islami and sometimes with some other party….this shows the party has no principles,” said the ANP leader.
